7 Eco-Friendly K-Beauty Brands to Try Out

COVID-19 has had great impact on our environment. On the bright side, the wilderness and wildlife have thrived in this period of decreased human traffic. On the dark side, the usage of single-use personal protective equipment have resulted in increased pollution.

As we work on reducing our carbon footprint and impact on the environment, why not include some products from eco-friendly K-Beauty brands into our daily routine?

Innisfree

Innisfree has always been the go-to eco-friendly K-Beauty brand for makeup and skincare lovers. From their eco-handkerchief and bottle recycling efforts to their customisable palettes, Innisfree has shown us ways we can reduce, reuse, and recycle.

This June, the brand will be launching the re-stay Line, a premium lifestyle line with eco-friendly products designed around indulgence and relaxation for the body and mind. This line consists of hand wash, shampoo, body cleanser, and body lotion that are sold in refill packaging. They can be paired with the re-stay re-spenser, a dispenser created with recycled material, for a minimalistic and coherent look on your bathroom counter.

You can find Innisfree’s products on Innisfree Malaysia.

Illiyoon is known for their hypoallergenic and moisturising formula perfect for sensitive and dry skin. Their Ceramide Ato Line features an all-purpose body wash and shampoo for a convenient shower routine. By having fully recyclable packaging and selling their body wash in refills, Illyoon plays its part in lessening our impact on the environment while at the same time providing us with a gentle, yet thorough cleanse.

Unleashia

A combination of the words unleash and utopia, Unleashia seeks to give us a space to get creative with makeup and discover ourselves. Unleashia's Get Loose Glitter Gel line enables us to show off our makeup prowess and creativity on our eyes, the only part of our face left visible after donning a mask. This gel is also suitable for the hair and body, to add an extra shine in our look.

Vegan, cruelty free and made with biodegradable glitter, Unleashia not only gives us that extra sparkle but is also safe both for ourselves and the environment.

Krave Beauty

Krave Beauty is not a stranger to most of us. We would've likely heard of one of their best sellers, the Great Barrier Reef that refreshes and hydrates your skin after a long day. Krave Beauty is a minimalistic and clean brand that features only four products (Beet The Sun was discontinued after inaccurate ingredient test results) as they believe that skincare should be easy and stress-free.

Their packaging is fully recyclable (including the labels) and they even have a recycling guide for each product to make recycling as fuss-free as possible.

You can find Krave Beauty's products on their website.

Sioris

Simple + Original = Sioris. Their products are guided by three key terms: fresh, safe, and authentic. Their ingredients are clean and harvested seasonally to ensure maximum benefits. They are also transparent in informing us when and where their ingredients were harvested, and the tests that have been conducted on them.

Sioris does not market their products with launches of various lines which could lead to some products sold in the line being unsuitable for us. Instead, they encourage that we select the skincare that best suits our needs.

You can find Sioris' products on Cocomo.

Rovectin

Rovectin is a brand that was started when a brother wanted to help his sister restore her skin that was severely damaged from chemotherapy. As such, all their products are hypoallergenic and perfect for dry, sensitive skin. Rovectin is also clean and cruelty-free. Their products also come with removable labels to increase the ease of recycling.

You can find Rovectin's products on Watsons.

Dear Dahlia

Dear Dahlia's signature marble aesthetic needs no introduction. This vegan and cruelty-free brand proves to us that environmental sustainability and luxury can co-exist. Aside from that, Dear Dahlia also makes sure that any glitter used in their products are biodegradable, and only use ingredients that are ethically sourced without the exploitation of child or animal labour.

To top it all off the brand is working towards releasing more refillable products to reduce waste, and hopes to implement fully recyclable packaging by 2025.

You can find Dear Dahlia's products on Sephora.

In our pursuit for self-expression and self-care, let us not forget to also take care of this Earth we inhabit. If not for us, then for the future generations.
