Sweat-proof Hacks from Kpop Stars

Living in Singapore, we're familiar with the humidity that causes us to sweat the moment we step out of our house. Often times, this affects our outfits or hair that we have painstakingly planned and styled.

While Korea might be a lot cooler and less humid than Singapore, Kpop idols who have to perform song after song under the sweltering heat or bright stage lights are not exempt from sweating up a storm. Having sweat stains or oily hair is something that we all wish to avoid, but how do these celebrities do it every time they're on stage?

Here are some tips from Kpop stars themselves on how to either minimise your sweating, or prevent your sweat from ruining your hair or clothes.

Armpit Pads

Mamamoo member Solar shared on her YouTube video that she uses armpit pads to soak up armpit sweat when wearing sleeved clothes. These pads are rather wide and have an adhesive on one side. They're meant to be stuck onto clothes at the armpit area and will soak up any armpit sweat while you're wearing it. This hack is perfect for clothes made of thicker materials like blouses or button-down shirts. For a more budget-friendly option, you can opt for panty liners instead of purchasing armpit pads.

Powder

Another side effect of sweating too much is that your hair becomes flat and oily, ruining all the effort you put into styling it before you left the house. Way, a member of disbanded girl group Crayon Pop shared that many Kpop celebrities carry around powder specifically for their hair. They would pat some powder in with a puff to soak up the oil and refresh their hair. You can choose to use loose powder like that of Innisfree's No Sebum Mineral Powder or you can opt for baby powder instead!

Wipes

Sometimes, the best way to get rid of all the sweat is to just wipe it off with powder wipes. Not only will it get rid of your sweat, it will also give you much needed refreshment in the middle of the heat! Way shared that Kpop idols often carry these wipes with them, and would even help each other to wipe areas that they can't reach, like their backs. She recommended the Biore Sara Sara Powder Sheets as the wipes that she and her members used back when they were still active.

Stiefel's Driclor

If you're borrowing clothes and can't afford to get them stained with your sweat, Way recommends Stiefel's Driclor Roll On. Use this on areas that are prone to excessive sweating like your armpits a day before your event and this antiperspirant will keep you nice and dry! However, it is recommended that those with sensitive skin do a patch test before application. Way also shared that a little goes a long way and discourages her viewers from applying too much at the start, and to wait at least a day or two after shaving — if not, you will have to suffer through a burning sensation for who knows how long!

There isn't much that we can do with Singapore's weather, and we will always be sweating no matter what we do. So we hope that these hacks are useful for you, especially on days where you have important events. If you have any other sweat-proofing hacks, let us know on our Facebook or Instagram!
