My Paparotti is based on the true story of singer Kim Ho Joong who rose to fame in 2020 as one of the seven finalists in Mr. Trot. The singer had shared his story of being a thug and joining gangs, before being persuaded to pursue a singing career on variety show Star King in 2009.
