Pledis Entertainment’s boy group SEVENTEEN is set to make their comeback next month. They will be releasing their 9th mini album entitled “Attacca” on October 22nd, and have been building their fans’ excitement by releasing teaser photos, promotion scheduler and a concept trailer on Twitter.

But while we’re waiting for what I’m sure is another hit song, let me share some facts about these boys that will definitely turn anyone into a CARAT!

All Members Are Accredited By KOMCA

Needless to say, SEVENTEEN is a very talented group. In fact, right after their debut in 2015, they immediately made it on Billboard’s list of “21 Under 21: Music’s Hottest Young Stars” – the only Korean act to be included during that year.

That’s not all! Their debut album “17 CARAT” also ranked #9 on Billboard’s World Albums chart just a week into promotions. They were definitely monster rookies!

And if that’s not enough to impress you, here’s what will.  All 13 members are accredited as producers/composers under Korea Music Copyright Association or KOMCA.

Every time a musician participates in a track’s composition, lyrics or arrangement, KOMCA will put it on their record. So yes, aside from having awesome vocal and dancing skills, the boys have a knack for creating songs too!

They Have Their Own Manga

SEVENTEEN is also widely popular in Japan. So much so that a manga was created starring them as the characters!

It is called “Say The Name!: SEVENTEEN – Nihon Debut made no Michi” and has a total of four issues. Released in 2018, the story revolves about the group’s activities in Japan.

Some of Their Choreographies Include Sign Language

Apart from the song and the music video, one of the things most fans look forward to during SEVENTEEN’s comebacks is the choreography. It is already given for groups to upload dance practices, with different versions in some occasions, as a part of promotions.

But, what’s endearing about this group is their use of sign language as a part of their dance. For instance in “Pretty U”, they have a step that involves the tapping of cheek. This spells out “pretty” in Korean.

Their song “Clap” also has a movement of shaking their hands, which is the sign language for clapping. Other SEVENTEEN songs that include sign language are “Home” and “Thanks”.

They Donate to Charities During Their Anniversary

Most people celebrate milestones with delicious food and drinks. Or maybe, even throwing a party! SEVENTEEN has a different way of spending theirs.

During their anniversaries, the group has always been consistent in making generous donations to various charity organisations to commemorate their debut date.

On their 4th anniversary, the members donated to ChildFund Korea, an institution that aims to end child poverty. They even sponsored 13 children so they can move to a new home.

Their 5th and 6th anniversaries were no different. Last year, they contributed to the education of children and adolescents in need. Meanwhile this year, SEVENTEEN made another thoughtful donation to a non-government organisation that supports children who have been abused.

Seriously, what’s not to love about these boys?

One Member Modelled For A Car With The Same Name

Xu Minghao is a Chinese member of the group better known as “The8”. The reason why he chose this stage name is because the number eight is considered lucky in Chinese culture.

But who would’ve known that this name would make him a model for a luxury car brand?

In 2019, BMW launched a car called “BMW8” as a part of their “8 Series Coupé” or “The 8”. Fans were quick to react and posted tweets about how the brand should get the member as a model, because of the name.

After a few months, photos of The8 modelling for the car were released. Talk about dream come true!

Their Light Stick Is Brighter For A Reason

Almost every K-Pop group has a light stick merchandise that fans use during concerts and live performances. The design usually features shapes, symbols and colours that are related to the whole fandom.

That is why a diamond (which represents CARATS, the group’s fans) is the main point of SEVENTEEN’s light stick. It also comes in a combination of Rose Quartz and Serenity, the group’s official colour.

This product is not only beautiful but functional too! In its 2nd version, the group decided to make its light brighter after the leader S.Coups, discovered that most fans come home late at night after watching their schedules.

And the light stick proved its effectivity after successfully saving a life of a CARAT during a severe flood. Rescuers were able to spot her quickly because of it!

Someone In The Group Is Obsessed With Tigers

For long-time fans, this fact is probably not that surprising. Kwon Soon-young, better known as “Hoshi” has always been vocal about his love for tigers.  His stage name is even a combination of the words 호랑이 (horangi, meaning tiger) and 시선 (siseon, meaning gaze) translating to gaze of the tiger.

The idol is seen with tiger-related items numerous times from stuff toys and headbands, to phone case and shirts! Nevertheless, his adoration for this certain animal is not just on the surface.

Hoshi has also raised awareness for endangered tigers and even sent a message for International Tigers Day, celebrated every July 29th.
