Last month, DAY6’s rapper and bassist Young K announced that he would be enlisting in the military this coming October. His news garnered different reactions from fans – with some surprised while some already expecting it, given that Sungjin, the band’s leader, also enlisted in March.

While this two-year mandatory army service means we will not be seeing Young K perform for quite some time, he made sure not to leave his fans empty handed.

Along with the confirmation of his enlistment date, the idol also shared the release of his first-ever solo album entitled “Eternal.”

Young K’s solo debut consists of seven of his self-written tracks. He also participated in the composition of all the songs, making MyDays very excited with its launch!

This is not the first time that the idol has taken part in song writing. In fact, aside from writing lyrics for most of DAY6’s albums, Young K has also written for other idols and musicians such as Eric Nam, GOT7 and UP10tion.

His natural talent in creating music helped him earn a spot in the list of Most Copyrighted Idols on Korea Music Copyright Association or KOMCA. As of September, Young K has over 140 songs credited under his name.

Young K is also a part of DAY6’s sub-unit “Even of Day” alongside the band’s drummer Dowoon, and keyboardist Wonpil.

Their first EP called The Book of Us: Gluon was released in August 2020. They also made a comeback two months ago, with a second mini-album “Right Through Me.”

As of writing, their latest M/V surpassed almost 3 million views on Youtube, while the song has almost 5 million plays on Spotify.

The 5-member band debuted under JYP Entertainment back in 2015. Some of their most popular tracks include “Congratulations” and “You Were Beautiful.”

In 2017, the group rolled out the “Every Day6” project, where they released 2 new songs every 6th of the month for the whole year.
