October’s K-Music Favourites

It’s that time of the month again! We will be sharing yet another 7 Korean tracks to spice up your playlist. So get your Apple Music, Spotify or Youtube accounts ready and give these songs a listen.

Jamie Ft. Changmo – Numbers

Grades, money and followers – these numbers, whether we like it or not, are what most people use to determine someone’s worth. But we all know that shouldn’t be the case. And, former JYP talent Jamie also agrees in a form of song!

In the track’s chorus she sings about how she doesn’t give a sh— about numbers, which should serve as a reminder to anyone who thinks having a lot of money or higher grades means you’re better.

So the next time a nosy relative asks you how much your salary is or a condescending classmate asks what score you got on the exam, you can tell them to give this song a listen. ;)

ONEWE – Rain To Be

To be honest, whenever I see the word “rain” in a title, I would automatically assume that the main theme would be sad. Which is why I was surprised when I gave it a listen as it has an upbeat vibe.

Despite that, I felt like the song’s meaning talks about missing a loved one and how the person remembers them whenever it rains, so it’s actually very sweet!

Oh and did I mention the members are playing instruments under the rain in the music video? How awesome is that?!

Seori ft. Eaj – Dive With You

Seori and Eaj (Jae of DAY6) blessed their fans with new music for the second time around. In my opinion, the song expresses a love so great that it makes you brave enough to face whatever the world brings.

I think most people can relate to it, especially in the line “Everyday I dive with you” because feeling in love is somewhat the same as diving; plunging headfirst which can be both scary and exciting.

Bonus points because the music video is just as beautiful and features love in all forms.

HA:TFELT – Life Sucks

Let’s face it; there are days where we feel like life just sucks. But if you think that being a celebrity means all of their moments are happy, HA:TFELT says otherwise.

This song, which is written in English, has a very personal meaning for the former Wonder Girls member. It focuses about her struggles because of the issues surrounding her father’s fraud scandal.

I adored her for having the courage to share it with her fans and it also reminded me that idols are humans too, who will have bad days just like every one of us.

MONSTA X – One Day

I may be biased because MONSTA X is one of my favourite groups but I am not lying when I say they have never released a song that I didn’t like.  Whether it is in English or Korean, their music has its own charm that always captivates my heart.

One Day is their latest single that highlights all of the members’ vocal skills (yes, including rappers Jooheon and I.M)! The lyrics conveys a longing feeling for an ex-lover, so I’m sure those who are trying to move on will find this song #relatable.

Mad Clown Ft. Jinsil – Fire

This song came out six years ago but I still listen to it religiously and have never grown tired of it. For those who are a fan of K-Hiphop like me, you can probably agree when I say Mad Clown is one of the best rappers out there.

His songs always have a story, which is one of the reasons why I enjoy listening to it. Fire is a song that depicts a toxic relationship with someone and they did a good job expressing it.

In the majority of the track, Mad Clown raps about wanting to break up but in the chorus, Jinsil is begging him to stay. Clever right?

LEE HI – HOLO

This is one of the songs I like to play on repeat whenever I’m feeling blue, as it is very comforting. Lee Hi’s angelic voice combined with the encouraging lyrics never fails to lift my mood up.

One of the theories about this track is that Lee Hi is dedicating this song to her younger self, telling her that the pain she’s feeling will eventually stop one day.

It sends a very positive message to the youth who are going through rough patches in life, so it is definitely a must-listen.
