We’re finally entering the –ber months season! So, what better way to spend your weekends (and let’s be honest, weekdays too!) than watching Korean programmes? This September, we will be sharing another list of films you can enjoy with your loved ones, and dramas you can binge-watch alone if you’re craving for some me-time. :)

 Dali and The Cocky Prince

Drama: An unusual romance blossoms between Jin Moo-hak (played by Kim Min-Jae), the director of Dondon F&B and Kim Dal-ri (played by Park Gyu-young), a researcher born in a rich family. Despite Moo-hak’s natural skills in business, he is actually not that smart. Meanwhile, Dal-ri who excels in many languages has no idea how to take care of herself. Their story will revolve around an art museum – with one trying to save it and the other trying to steal it.

Haeundae

Movie: If you’re feeling a little bit nostalgic, this 2009 film is right up your alley. Haeundae is South Korea’s first-ever disaster film, which received several awards and nominations. Known for it’s English title “Tidal Wave”, the plot centres on Busan’s Haeundae district. The place is known to garner many visitors on its beaches every year. The main characters Man-sik (played by Sol Kyung-gu) and Yeon-hee (played by Ha Ji-won) fight for their lives as they get caught up in a deadly tsunami.

The Veil

 Drama: For crime and action fanatics, The Veil should definitely be on your watch-list this month. The protagonist is Han Ji-hyuk (played by Namkoong Min), who used to be the best agent at the National Intelligence Service. An incident causes him to go missing for a year. He then returns to look for the traitor who was responsible for his downfall.

My Girlfriend Is An Agent

Movie: Next on the list is another throwback film. It stars actress Kim Ha-neul who plays the role Ahn Soo-ji, an undercover long-time secret agent and actor Kang Ji-whan who plays the role Jae-joon, Sooji’s ex-boyfriend who is in fact, also an agent. They crossed paths again three years later, and together, they will try to stop a Russian mafia from destroying the world.

Hometown

Drama: This mystery-thriller drama takes place in 1999 where Choi Hyung-in (played by Yoo Jae-Myung) is currently working as a detective. The death of his wife ten years prior still hunts his conscience. As he investigates a serial murder case, Hyung-in slowly suspects that the culprits are also responsible for killing his wife.

The drama also stars Han Ye-ri as Jo Jong-hyun, a girl whose brother is an accomplice for a terrorist attack, and Um Tae-goo as Jo Kyung-ho, a mysterious prisoner.

One The Woman

Drama: What if you lose your memory and wake up one day as a daughter of a 재벌 (chae-bol, which means rich family)? This is what Cho Yeon-joo (played by Lee Hanee) got herself into! Formerly a prosecutor, Yeon-joo gets an amnesia after getting into a car accident. Her life then takes a 360-degree turn when she regains conciousness and switches lives with Kang Mi-na, the youngest daugther of a conglomerate.

Also a key person in the story is Lee Sang-yoon (played by Han Seung-wook), who returns to Korea to find out the truth about his father’s death.

Beautiful Vampire

Movie: When you hear about a vampire flick, you automatically think of it as a horror film. Well, not this one. Beautiful Vampire is a story about Ran (played by Jung Yeon-joo), a 500-year-old vampire living an ordinary mundane life. Her main source of income is her make-up store in the neighbourhood of Seoul. Everything is normal until Lee So-nyeon (played by Song Kang), arrives and falls in love with her. To make the matters worse, her thirst for human blood comes back.
