Ajumma’s is one of our go to places for delicious yet affordable casual Korean dining in Singapore as they focus on delivering authentic Korean street cuisine at pocket-friendly prices.

A Korean restaurant that makes us drool even at the mere recollection for their delicious 짜장면 (Jjajangmyeon), and it is certainly nothing to wonder about as their restaurant was named after this remarkable Korean dish.

4. SBCD Sundubu House

The 순두부 (Sundubu) which means ultra soft tofu, is an iconic Korean dish – and we find the 순두부찌개 (Sundubu-Jjigae, Soft Tofu Stew) from SBCD Sundubu House to be one of the closest to the ones that we loved from Korea.
Over here, they do not skive on the authenticity of their recipe, and alongside that philosophy, every block of soft and silken tofu is freshly made daily from special soybeans imported from Paju, South Korea.
Though travel to Korea might be difficult for most of us in Singapore presently, we can order takeaway or delivery directly from them here – which is pretty good as well for this work-from-home season.

We are big fans of Korean cuisine with a modern spin, along with delicious drinks such as 막걸리 (Makgeolli) – and one of our recent favourites would be the newly opened Anju restaurant.
This restaurant, as its name suggests, is a Korean language wordplay to suggest that food is best eaten with alcohol, and they serve up beautifully plated modern Korean cuisine, along with their specially curated Korean alcoholic offerings such as their Champagne Makgeolli (S$75). This certainly goes well with their mains and we ended our dining experience here on a high note.
