We may not have the official four seasons of Spring, Summer, Autumn, and Winter, we have the unofficial seasons of Hot, BURNING, Still Hot, and RAIN respectively.

Right now, the Northern hemisphere is experiencing Summer, meaning that we're experiencing BURNING. I'm sure it's not just me who has squinted out the window and scorned Singapore's humidity and heat.

With a sweltering weather comes the need for coolers. May we present: Kakao Friends Popsicles! Upgrade your regular home-made popsicles with the faces of Ryan and Apeach, two of the group of Kakao Friends.

These silicone popsicle molds come with a plastic popsicle stick. This means that you can make endless popsicles to tide you through Singapore's heat!

Here are three types of popsicles you can try!

  1. Refreshing and Cooling

The point of eating popsicles or ice cream on a hot day is to cool you down and refresh yourself. During summer in Korea, many people mix watermelon juice with sprite to to cool off. Although they usually drink it, you can always freeze it into a popsicle to enjoy! Experiment with the ratio of watermelon and sprite to find the best one for you!

2. Creamy and Sweet

Some may prefer richer popsicles, perhaps more like ice cream than a popsicle. Although these may not have the same refreshing effect as watermelon or citrus popsicles, they can be more flavourful and filling. You can make smoothies with your favourite mix of fruits and milk before pouring it into the mold. If you'd like, add some pieces of cut fruit for texture!

3. Fun and Alcoholic

For those of you who are of approved drinking age, you might want to consider making some spiked popsicles to enjoy with your friends after a long week (or day) of work. You can choose to either freeze flavoured soju, or mix soju with other juices to create your alcoholic popsicle. We've not tried this yet, but if you have some makgeolli lying about, why not try making a makgeolli popsicle too?

Many children will remember making popsicles at home with their siblings or parents — it's a cheap and delicious way to reward yourself at the end of the day. Just because we're mostly grown up now doesn't mean we should stop indulging in this childlike sense of enjoyment. After all, we're all children at heart, aren't we?
