7 Things About MONSTA X That Will Turn You Into A Monbebe
Starship Entertainment’s boy group MONSTA X is set to release another mini album this coming November 19th entitled “No Limit”. This is the group’s first comeback as 5, following their leader Shownu’s enlistment to the military last July.
Now if you’re already a certified Monbebe like me, you probably can’t wait to hear their new songs. But, if it’s your first time getting to know this group, here are some interesting facts you should take note of!
One Of The Members Used To Be A Back-Up Dancer For Veteran Idol Lee Hyori
Before becoming a part of one of Korea’s most successful boy group, Shownu used to be a back-up dancer for “Nation’s Fairy” Lee Hyori. While the leader is already known for his dancing skills, new fans will probably not know about this because it was back in his trainee days.
Shownu flexed his moves for Hyori’s song “Bad Girl” and it actually garnered a lot of attention due to their sexy outfits and intimate steps. Fun fact: Shownu worked as a back-up dancer with another idol, MADTOWN’s Jota.
They Were The First K-Pop Group To Perform In iHeartRadio Music Festival
The iHeartRadio Music Festival is one of the most-awaited concerts in the United States every year as it features a lot of big names in the music industry. For instance, this year artists like Billie Eilish, Coldplay, Dua Lipa and Khalid are attending – which makes it a really amazing feat that MONSTA X was invited!
The group attended for the first time in 2019 where they sang some of their hit songs like “Shoot Out,” “Play It Cool” and “Who Do U Love?”.
Of course this 2021, MONSTA X will be present and will be performing in several cities like Philadelphia, Atlanta, Miami and DC.
They Have An Actor In The Group
MONSTA X is not only amazing when it comes to singing and dancing. They can act too! Their member Hyungwon, landed the lead role for the web drama entitled “Fly Again” which is set to air this November 13th.
The story, which is based on a webtoon, will revolve around his character Yohan, a transfer student at Hanbit Art High School who aims to become an idol. The plot does not really stray away from Hyungwon’s own life experiences, so a lot of fans are really anticipating how he will portray his role.
They Have Their Own Cartoon Characters
In 2019, the company launched their character brand “TWOTUCKGOM” which simply means, “bear with two chins”. As the name suggests, the cute animal is based on a bear, which aims to represent the member’s unique personalities.
Shownu’s bear is called NUNUGOM who like him, has good dancing skills, loves to eat and work out. The maknae IM’s bear is good at speaking English and is called DANYGOM, inspired by his international name Daniel.
Then we have Minhyuk’s MINGGOM, a bear who likes flowers and nice scents, ZIZIGOM who depicts Hyungwon who loves to sleep, Jooheon’s HONEYGOM who has a sweet voice and lastly, Kihyun’s HAMGOM who just like him, loves to clean and can be sometimes sensitive.
One Member Is Very Good At Painting
As if MONSTA X can’t get any more talented, one of their members Minhyuk is also blessed with painting skills! He has showcased his artistic side in various occasions like V-Live. In this vlog, you can even watch him use a bag as a canvas!
Minhyuk’s love for art has even opened more career opportunities for him. In 2020, he became a host of the radio show VogueShip Show where every week, guests will be completing artwork masterpieces along with the listeners.

Hit Drama She Was Pretty’s OST Was Sung By One MONSTA X Member
Kihyun is known as the group’s main vocal and aside from flexing his powerful voice in their own songs, he has also lent his talent for the “One More Step” OST of 2015’s hit drama She Was Pretty starring Park Seo-joon, Jung Da-Bin and Super Junior’s Choi Siwon.
In 2017, Kihyun also sang the OST for the show Shopping King Louie with Seo In-Guk as the main lead. The track was entitled “The Tiger Moth”.
The member also releases song covers from time to time. You can listen to his latest release – a cover of Tom Grennan’s “A Little Bit of Love”.
16 Of Their Tracks Placed On Billboard Charts This Year
Yes, you read that right. MONSTA X has not just one or two, but sixteen songs that made it to World Digital Song Sales chart this 2021, making this year the most successful for the group on Billboard.
What’s even more amazing is that despite the fact that there are a lot of musical acts from Korea charting on the list, MONSTA X is considered the best performing K-artist in the charts.
The 16 songs include one of their latest releases Gambler, and even their debut song Rush.
There are only a few days left before their comeback, so MONBEBES get your hearts ready! And while waiting, we can stream their latest song One Day:
