Korean Actresses That You Won’t Believe Are In Their Late 30s and 40s!

Recently, there have been a lot of young actresses that are dominating the Korean acting scene. There’s Han So Hee who became known for her iconic mistress role in the drama “World of Married” and art student character in “Nevertheless”.

Kim Da Mi was loved by many when she played the role of Yi Seo in “Itaewon Class” alongside Park Seo Joon, and Yeon Su with Choi Woo Sik on “Our Beloved Summer”.

Despite this, many actresses who have been gracing the television for the longest time still remain the Hallyu Queens. Here are some of them:

1. Han Hyo Joo

Born February 22, 1987, Hyo Joo’s career started when she joined a teenage beauty pageant in 2003. Two years later, she landed her first role in a sitcom and a gangster comedy film.

She then started gaining popularity in 2007 after starring in two hit TV projects – daily drama “Heaven & Earth”, and period-action series “Iljimae”. Hyo Joo then further rose to stardom thanks to her performance in Brilliant Legacy with actor Lee Seung Gi.

In a previous interview, the actress shared that her skincare routine includes using products that contain aloe vera extracts since her skin tends to warm up easily.

2. Shin Min Ah

Her lovely dentist character Hye Jin in the hit 2021 drama Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha is the evidence that Shin Min Ah’s talent in acting is timeless.

She entered the entertainment industry as early as 1998, working as a model for a teen magazine. In 2001, Min Ah made her acting debut with a supporting role in “Beautiful Days”.

She eventually ventured out in films, and rose to popularity after working on the comedy film “Volcano High” and “Madeliene. Although she has continuously worked in many successful projects, her most iconic role is still on the drama “My Girlfriend is a Nine-Tailed Fox”.

The actress, born in April 5, 1984 – once shared in an interview that she suffers from dry and sensitive skin. How does she counter it? Using cleansing and moisturizing products that are gentle!

3. Park Min Young

Our favourite “secretary” is born on March 4, 1986.

Starting as a commercial actress in 2005, she proceeded to work on bigger projects one year later, beginning with the famous sitcom “High Kick!”. Her breakthrough did not happen until after 5 years, when starred in the series “Sungkyunkwan Scandal”.

Min Young’s success then continued with her roles in “City Hunter”, “What’s Wrong with Secretary Kim”, “Her Private Life” and “When the Weather is Fine”.

In her vlog, the actress shared using a sheet mask before make-up to prep her skin. When it’s time to remove it, she gets the help from facial cotton rounds (using the rough side), to help exfoliate dead skin.

4. Yoo In Na

Yoo In Na is so baby-faced it is surprising to know that she was actually born on June 5 1982.

After a failed attempt on debuting as an idol, she joined YG Entertainment in 2006 in hopes of being an actress instead. Her hard work was in time rewarded, when she won the Best New Actress award at the Baeksang Arts Award because of her supporting role in the 2010 drama “Secret Garden.”

Her other notable projects include “Queen and I,” “My Love from the Star” and “Guardian: The Lonely and Great God.”

5. Son Ye Jin

Son Ye Jin, born on January 11, 1982 recently announced her engagement to fellow actor Hyun Bin whom she starred with in the hit 2019 drama “Crash Landing On You.”

The actress is not only popular in Korea but also in other countries in East Asia after she worked on films “Lovers’ Concerto” and “The Classic”, receiving recognition in Hong Kong and mainland China.

Ye Jin also gained fame in Japan when she starred in “A Moment to Remember”, a film based on a famous Japanese series.

6. Jun Ji Hyun

You are not a certified K-drama fan if you don’t know who Jun Ji Hyun is. She is one of the top Hallyu stars in South Korea, receiving recognitions like Grand Bell Awards for Best Actress and the Daesang (grand prize) for Television at the Baeksang Art Awards.

Ji Hyun, born on January 30, 1981, has starred in many successful dramas and films. But, what contributed the most to her fame is the movie “My Sassy Girl” which gained big attention across Asia when it was released in 2001.

The actress would honestly pass off as someone who is in her late twenties, and it’s thanks to her meticulous way of cleaning her face starting with lukewarm water then cleansing foam with cold water.

7. Gong Hyo Jin

Dubbed as the Queen of Romantic Comedies, Gong Hyo Jin is also another top actress who has passed the 40-year-old mark.

Born on April 4, 1980, she first started off as adverstisement and commercial model. She eventually transitioned into acting, with her act in the drama “Ruler of Your Own World” gaining attention from the entertainment industry.

Her works include “The Greatest Love”, “Master’s Sun”, “The Producers” and “When the Camellia Blooms”.
