November’s K-Music Favourites

Time is flying so fast and we’re already so close to the end of the year! Some of you might be feeling excited to enter the festive season, while some may be feeling a bit of holiday jitters. Well whatever your mood is, it is surely best accompanied with good music.

Without further ado, here are our recommended songs for the month of November.

 CL – Let It

Long-time K-Pop fans know that 2NE1 is one of the most iconic girl groups out there. Unfortunately, they officially disbanded in 2017. But there’s no reason to be sad! The members are still active with their own solo schedules, including of their leader CL.

She recently released her album ALPHA and this track “Let It” is my favourite among the list. Although most of her songs in the album have a hip-hop vibe, Let It has a more upbeat and summer feel. It’s a song that I would like to blast on a road-trip!

The English translation of the lyrics is actually meaningful too, which is CL singing about letting everything take its course and doing what you feel is right.

A.C.E – Spark

Aside from the casts and the unpredictable plots, one of the things that hook me in a K-Drama is a good OST. This song from A.C.E did just that! Spark is the original soundtrack of the show Light On Me, which revolves around the journey of an 18-year-old student in terms of friendships and romantic relationships.

You know how we say “there’s a spark between us” when we meet someone knew and start liking them? This song is the perfect embodiment of that. The members’ honey vocals combined with the cheerful beat of the track will really have you reminiscing your first love!

BTS – Outro: Wings

Lately, BTS has been constantly releasing English songs like Dynamite and Butter. And if you’re like me who misses hearing them sing in Korean, then let’s listen to Outro: Wings together!

As the name suggests, it's the last track from their 2017 album “You Never Walk Alone”. It’s a music that I listen to whenever I need a motivation because the lines of the song convey the expression “spread your wings”.

Basically, it’s all about believing in yourself, trusting your decisions and not being afraid of walking on the path you chose.

ROCOBERRY – THIS CITY

Let’s take a short break from the happy songs and tune in to ROCOBERRY’s mellow track “This City.” If you mostly listen to mainstream K-music, this is probably your first time hearing about this artist.

But just because they’re not as famous as the other musicians, doesn’t mean they’re not good! In fact, ROCOBERRY (which is an indie pop duo) is well-known for singing OSTs for popular dramas like Goblin and Descendants of The Sun.

This City was only released around 2 months ago, and it's a track that is guaranteed to suit a relaxing mood. Want to go for a walk at night? Or chill in your home with a glass of wine? Play this song, close your eyes and unwind~

ITZY – LOCO

Get crazy with ITZY while you listen to their comeback song LOCO! Whenever I hear this track, it makes me want to go in the middle of the dance floor and dance my heart out. Listen to it and you’ll get what I’m talking about.

If you’re a #StrongIndependentWoman then I suggest you skip reading the translation of this song, because the girl talks about falling madly in love with someone that it makes them act crazy and irrational.

But, if it totally represents what you’re feeling right now then by all means, turn that loud speaker on!

HyunA & DAWN – PING PONG

I may be biased but I do think HyunA & DAWN deserves to have the “Korea’s Best Idol Couple” title. I mean, look how good and talented they are together!

PING PONG is the couple’s first collaboration ever since they moved to P NATION. And I don’t know if it’s just me, but the two of them gives me that Joker and Harley Quinn vibe in the music video (probably because of DAWN’s green hair).

This one is another upbeat song that I would gladly dance to relieve my stress. Plus, the chorus is real catchy too, so you can also sing the lyrics while you shake your body~

STAYC – Stereotype

Don’t judge a book by its cover – this is the message that STAYC wants to deliver with their latest release “Stereotype”. It’s a song that reminds us not to let someone’s outward appearance determine how we view of them as person.

I think it’s a really timely track because nowadays, people are quick to assume with just some pictures they see on social media. This shouldn’t be the case, and if you want to know why stereotyping someone is wrong, then listen to the girls sing about it!

A little heads up though, seeing the members wearing a uniform in the music video might make you miss going to school.
